DAY OF TATTOO
1.Leave the bandage on your tattoo over night to avoid sticking to sheets and to give the skin a chance to heal the first layer over the ink particles, do not pull off for a peak, it's there forever so relax.
2. Wash your hands prior to removing bandage. Immediately wash tattoo with hot water and antibacterial soap until tattoo is no longer slimy or glazed. (Do not use washcloth)
3. Rinse with cold water to close the pores.
4. Pat or dab (do not rub) until tattoo is dry. Keep away from all sources of infection (pet's, feces, dirt, sweat, rust, fingers etc.).
DO NOT RE-BANDAGE THE TATTOO
5. When tattoo seems dry or tight apply a very light amount of A&D ointment as needed as you would a minor abrasion do not leave a glaze over Tattoo, dirt will get in and oxygen will not.
6. After the first four days, stop using the ointment. Choose a fragrance-free lotion (lubriderm, dermasage). Apply to tattoo at least 3 times per day, or more often if needed. Remember to rub the lotion or cream in thoroughly, and always use freshly washed hands. Repeat this procedure until the tattoo is no longer dry or shiny.
ADDITIONAL TIPS FOR A BETTER HEALED TATTOO: you may rinse your tattoo if dirt is present but never soak your Tattoo and never enter a pool or sauna with a fresh Tattoo. Do not expose tattoo to sunlight for at least 4 weeks or until tattoo is healed. To preserve your tattoo, once it is healed, apply sun block to tattoo if it will be exposed to the sun. Do not soak tattoo in water (bathing or swimming) for at least 2 weeks or until healed. If you work out (esp. cardiovascular or aerobic) take some time off. Profuse sweating has the same effect on new tattoos as soaking in water. Wear loose clothing that can allow your healing tattoo to breathe. Do not pick at or scratch new tattoos. This will cause damage to the design. If it itches, apply more lotion or cream. Average healing time for the Tattoo is 7-14 days, however the skin will be new and appear slightly shiny and crinkly for about 8 weeks.
Touch ups are free provided there are flaws the workmanship, you must wait the full 8 weeks before touchups to avoid scarring new under developed skin tissue.
